Paul Yang

Paul is the Vice Chairman of the China Development Financial Holding Corp. ("CDFH"), one of the leading financial services providers in Asia with operations in Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and New York. From 2012 to 2016, he served as the Group CEO of CDFH. During his tenure as CEO, Paul successfully restructured its then-proprietary private equity operation into a fast-growing asset management franchise and was credited with completing a series of strategic acquisitions in banking and securities that transformed CDFH. Currently CDFH is a full range financial service group spanning securities, commercial banking, life insurance and asset management.

Paul also served as a Partner and Head of Greater China for KKR from January 2017 to June 2022.  Under Paul’s leadership, KKR China has made over US$5 billion of private equity investments in areas of digital economy, healthcare, education, and advanced manufacturing.  In addition, Paul has successfully expanded the scope of KKR’s franchise beyond private equity investments to include other asset classes such as commercial real estate, private credit, infrastructure,and technology ventures.

For three years in a row since Paul took office, KKR has been voted by Private Equity International as the Private Equity Firm of the Year for China.  Prior to CDFH and KKR, Paul was Managing Director and Global Head of Private Equity and Mezzanine Finance at DBS Bank based in Hong Kong. He has held positions at Goldman Sachs, General Atlantic and Boston Consulting Group in the U.S. and Asia.

Paul received his M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT and his M.B.A. at Harvard.  He is a Board Director of the China Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (CVCA), the largest association in the industry in China.
